How to Measure

For the most accurate fit, take your measurements while standing naturally. Keep the measuring tape close to the body without pulling it too tightly.

1. To Measure Height

Stand against a wall without shoes. Place a flat ruler across the top of your head to the wall and measure from that point down to the floor.

Use your height as a general guide for jacket length:

  • 5'4" to 5'7" = Short
  • 5'7½" to 5'11" = Regular
  • 5'11½" to 6'2½" = Long
  • 6'3" and up = Extra Long

2. To Measure Chest

Bring the measuring tape around the widest part of your chest, underneath your arms and completely around your torso.

The average man will have approximately a 6-inch difference between chest and waist size. For example, a 44-inch chest may correspond with approximately a 38-inch waist.

3. To Measure Waist

Your waist measurement should normally be similar to the waist size you purchase in trousers. Measure around the area where you normally wear your pants and around your natural waist.

4. To Measure Seat or Hips

Measure around the fullest part of the seat and hips.

5. To Measure Inseam

Measure along the inside seam of the leg from the crotch to the bottom of the pant leg.

6. To Measure Sleeve

Start in the middle of your back just below the neck. Measure across the shoulder, around your slightly bent elbow and down to your wrist bone.

Shirt Size Chart

In a shirt size, the first measurement corresponds to the neck measurement in inches. The second measurement corresponds to sleeve length, measured from the middle of the back across the shoulder and down the arm.

How to Choose a Standard Size Suit

NOTE: Choose the same suit size as your actual body measurement. Additional room is already included in the finished jacket and waistcoat for comfort.

For example, if your chest measures 38 inches, order a size 38 jacket and waistcoat. The finished garment will include approximately 2 inches of additional room through the chest.

If your belly measurement is dramatically smaller than your chest or larger than your chest, alterations may be required for the best fit.

Measurements should be taken close to the body. Do not add extra inches while measuring.

For standard sizing, it is helpful to know your Height, Weight, Chest, Belly, Waist and Hip measurements.

Adding extra inches to your measurements may result in a suit that is too large and does not fit correctly.
